About
Dayspring
Church

We’re a community centred on Jesus – committed to knowing Him, becoming like
Him, and making Him known.

We are a contemporary, non-denominational church with a focus on worship, the
Holy Spirit, and practical teaching from the Bible. People from all walks of life call
Dayspring home – including families, young adults, youth, and older generations –
and wherever you’re at in your faith, you’re welcome here.

We believe the Holy Spirit is active and present today – bringing transformation,
healing, and empowering people to live with purpose. This includes things like the
prophetic, healing, and speaking in tongues, expressed in a way that points people
to Jesus and builds up the church.

Everything we do flows from a simple conviction – that life with Jesus changes
everything. Our heart is to create space for people to encounter Him, grow in their
faith, and live it out in everyday life.

Our Foundations

His presence
We are a people of His presence first. We believe God is near, and that encountering Him transforms our lives. The church, at its best, gives people a tangible experience of what it feels like to be loved by Jesus, and the Christian life is a daily walk with Him – being formed, shaped, and transformed over time.

His people
We believe church looks like family. We are committed to being a community of covenant over convenience – a network of people bound together in love, practising the way of Jesus together. We also believe in the priesthood of all believers, where each person carries responsibility for revealing the Kingdom of God to those around them.

His purpose
We believe purpose flows from intimacy with God. As we walk with Him, we are invited to carry His Kingdom into the world – seeing His will, His rule, and His reign expressed on earth. This includes making disciples – people who follow Jesus and help others follow Him.

Leadership

Dayspring is led by a team committed to serving the church, strengthening community, and helping people grow in their faith. Our leadership team provides spiritual direction, shapes the culture of the church, and guides the overall life of Dayspring.

Staff Team

Our staff team leads key areas of church life, supporting the community and helping people connect, grow, and serve.

Board

Our board provides spiritual oversight and governance, helping ensure the church is led with wisdom, integrity, and accountability.

Our Story

After completing a leadership training school at The Vineyard under John and Carol Wimber, Dayspring was planted by pastors David and Narelle Crabtree in their lounge room in 1991. This new church plant quickly outgrew the Crabtrees’ lounge room, moving to a local primary school, then to a rented building on Salisbury Road in Castle Hill, and eventually into our own building (just across the road) at 15 Salisbury Road in 2010.

Since our beginnings as part of the Vineyard movement in Sydney, we have grown into a non-denominational church that blends charismatic expression with a contemplative depth – holding together a focus on community, spiritual formation, heartfelt worship, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and biblical teaching.

In 2017, David and Narelle transitioned senior leadership to the next generation, and today Dayspring is led by Aaron and Kristen Williamson.

The name Dayspring comes from Luke 1:78 – a reference to Jesus as the rising light breaking into darkness:

Luke 1:78–79 - “Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Our heart as a church community is to be part of that light – helping guide people into the way of peace.

What We
Believe

God the Eternal One
We believe that God is infinite, wise, holy, powerful, unchangeable and loving.
He exists as the One Living and True God in the three persons of the Father, the
Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ
We believe that God sent His only Son, Jesus, into the world. Conceived by the
Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, as fully God and fully man in one person,
He is Spirit-filled humanity as God intended us to be. We believe that the Lord
Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God.
He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose
again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

Salvation
We receive eternal salvation as the gift of God in His Grace through personal
faith in Jesus and His sacrificial death on the cross on our behalf.

Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is also the Spirit of Jesus and indwells every
believer in Jesus as an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide, received as
conscious experience for life and ministry.

The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the only written source of truth about God and that
it is the authoritative foundation for doctrine and belief.

Grace
We believe that Grace is God's constant Empowering Presence, enabling and
authorising believers to accomplish His will on earth as demonstrated by Jesus.

That is:
  • To declare the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven,
  • To preach Good News (it really is!),
  • To promote Grace (God's empowering Presence to give us new life)
  • To announce and declare peace,
  • To heal the sick;
  • To relieve poverty and injustice;
  • To fulfil the Great Commission and make disciples of all nations;
  • To create and model Godly relationships, marriages and families;
  • To set people free; and
  • To work in all the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Second Coming
We believe that Jesus will return in person to bring about the final defeat of
Satan and his works, the resurrection of the dead and the final restoration
of all things.
