DaySpring School of Supernatural Ministry

First Year - Full Time Syllabus

DaySpring School of Supernatural Ministry is different to any traditional college. Rather than an emphasis on theory alone, application and experience will also be highlighted and encouraged. Students will participate in a variety of different learning methods that are practical and experiential, including physical/outdoor activities, faith expeditions, group interaction and classroom tutorials. The School aims to train you in body, soul and spirit so that you are an effective conduit for the power of the Spirit.

Outlined below is a list of our core topics.

Grace – God’s Empowering Presence
A life in the Spirit is also a life in Grace, and a life in Grace is necessarily a life in the Spirit. This course redefines “grace” from its traditional definition of “unmerited favour” into “God’s empowering presence.” A life of Grace means a life dependent, empowered and governed by the Spirit.

The Power of the Kingdom
Students will come to understand foundational concepts of Kingdom ministry, such as spiritual warfare and spiritual authority, the mission of the church, healing, deliverance and spiritual gifts. You will also learn to pursue the power of God and Kingdom ministry as a lifestyle.

The Ministry of Jesus
Students will study the life and ministry of Jesus in a way that will uncover keys of Kingdom ministry. A gospel that only tells what Jesus did falls short of the life available to us. The only gospel that will reach the world is one that actually does what Jesus did – and more! Jesus said that His followers will do what he did AND do even greater things. This subject will teach students to go after the greater things.

Practising His Presence
Students will learn to practise and experience the presence of God in body, mind and spirit. Unlocking barriers to intimacy will enable students to tap into incredible Kingdom resources through worship, prayer, the Bible and relationships with God and each other.

Challenges of Faith
This subject is designed to expand the limits of students and their expectations of what God will do through them, while providing them with a framework to help understand the journey of faith we are all on. At its core, this is a practical subject with practical objectives. We believe that God sets us up to succeed in each step of our lives and will “richly provide us with everything”. Learning to hear His voice and stepping out in faith is vital.

Leadership Adventure
Students will look at New Testament leadership gifts and models whilst exploring the qualities of effective leaders. Students will discover their own styles and be nurtured into becoming spiritual leaders both in theory and in practice.

Process of Personal Transformation
In discovering a heart for and commitment to personal development, students will learn how to resolve personal conflict in a Spirit-empowered way, whilst demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit’s healing in their own lives.

Personal Development
The School is about nurturing and growing the whole person, so we want to explore practical life areas, such as time management, relationships, character issues, etc. As students allow the Spirit to grow and stretch them in these areas, students will become far more functional Kingdom people who set the pace and example for those around them.

Life in the Spirit
This course examines what it means to live in the Spirit, how to have a Spirit-empowered relationship with the Father and how we might “stay in” the Kingdom after we “get in” through the work of saving Grace.

Ministry Training
This course gives an holistic view of healing, learning how to bring Jesus’ light into every dark place and how to bring total healing into our own lives and the lives of others. During this course you will learn to recognise how to work with what God wants to do in someone’s heart, bringing freedom on a personal and physical level. Students will both participate in and receive ministry, in an atmosphere that will allow a safe learning place.

Ministry Electives
The Ministry Electives courses are classes that are designed to expose students to a range of topics and ministry areas of the church. Staff or guest lecturers who have experience and knowledge of the specific areas teach the classes. The material for each Elective is designed by the teacher and is based on what they feel is vital for giving the students a good overview of their area as well as specific keys for living out their field successfully. During this time, students gain wisdom from revivalists and insight as to how to live out their own destiny. If a specific area peaks their interest, there are other avenues that they can pursue to gain even further experience, such as pursuing leadership development in the Second Year program. First-Year students will also spend practical time serving and training in each ministry area outside class time.
